What this calculator covers

It applies the slab rates, standard deduction (₹75,000 new regime, ₹50,000 old regime), the rebate for resident individuals (nil tax up to ₹12 lakh of taxable income in the new regime, ₹5 lakh in the old), marginal relief, surcharge and 4% cess. It does not cover capital gains and other income taxed at special rates, losses carried forward, or agricultural income. If you have business or professional income, switching between regimes from year to year is restricted. Use the result as an estimate and confirm it before filing or paying tax.

Not sure which regime suits you?

The right choice depends on your income mix, deductions and plans for the year. Talk it through before you decide.
